A little help with practice.
Fresh Ink creates sight-reading exercises from Initial to Grade 6. You can practise offline without an account.
Start a practice set
- Choose your Grade, Clef and Key, then select New set.
- Open What this grade allows to see the range, rhythms and other constraints used for that level. These are Fresh Ink's own levels, with no examination-board affiliation.
- Use Play it to hear the exercise. Adjust Tempo to a comfortable speed.
- Choose Tap the rhythm, listen to the count-in, then tap the pad for each note. With a keyboard, use the space bar. This checks timing; it does not listen to your instrument or assess pitch.
- Use Next test to continue through the five-test set.
Open a test from your teacher
Enter the six-character code printed below the staff into Open a code, then select Open. The same code reproduces the same exercise. If a code cannot be opened, check the characters and make sure both devices use the same app version.
If you cannot hear the exercise
Raise your device's media volume, check the silent setting and confirm where audio is playing, including any connected headphones. Stop playback and select Play it again.
Where your practice is kept
Your current set and rhythm results are stored on the device and restored when you return. Fresh Ink has no account or shared practice history. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it can remove your practice record.
