Farnsworth Morse collects nothing about you, and nothing you do in it leaves your device.
What is collected
Nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no identifiers. Nobody — including us — can tell that you have used it, or what you typed into it.
What is stored, and where
The trainer remembers where you are in the course so that closing the page does not cost you your progress. It is kept in your browser's own storage, on your device, under a single name:
farnsworth.progress.v1— the lesson you have reached, how accurately you are copying each character, and the three speed settings.
That is the whole of it, and it is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser's data for this site deletes it, and it is gone.
The translator stores nothing whatsoever. What you type there exists only while the page is open.
What the app connects to
Its own address, and nothing else. Loading the app fetches its own files — the page, its code, its stylesheet, its icons — from the same place you opened it from, the way any web page does. It then keeps a copy of those files on your device, and after that it usually needs no network at all.
There is no analytics service, no advertising network, no font or script borrowed from anyone else, and no third-party server of any kind. Every request the app can make is for one of its own files, and carries nothing about you: no identifier, no progress, no text you typed. That is measured rather than promised — a test drives the app in a real browser, records every request each part of it makes, the page and the stored copy alike, and fails if one goes anywhere but the app's own address.
Children
Farnsworth Morse is suitable for any age. Because it collects nothing about anyone and contacts no third party, there is no personal data of a child, or of anyone else, for it to handle.
Changes
If this ever stops being accurate — if a version of the app ever did contact a server — this page would have to say so before that version shipped. That is the point of it.
